Finally – you might be wondering – someone who’s not about to shy away from passing value judgments. Bryan A. Garner has created a wondrous reference book on usage that will inspire writers, editors and translators for generations. This is the 3rd edition but I believe the 4th edition has been renamed Garner’s Modern English Usage, which I may well invest in shortly. One never knows what else Garner’s clinical eye may have spotted!
